Lucignano is a charming small town of Val di Chiana, near Arezzo . Each year, the last two Sundays of May, there is the traditional spring festival, the Maggiolata , characterized by the parade of floral floats through the streets of the historic center, accompanied by musical groups. The event is actually a contest between the four districts of the country for the better looking car: Porta Murata, Porta San Giovanni, Porta San Giusto , Way of Love. The last Sunday of May (where the event takes its name) is declared the winner in the district which is the scope "Grifo d'Oro" . The floats are stripped from the flowers that are launched from the neighborhood, creating a unique "battle of flowers" . Date of event: last two Sundays of May
